We offer a variety of activities for our primary students alongside the normal curriculum of the school. These activities provide a great opportunity for students to explore new things, meet new friends and gain new knowledge and skills in a leisurely way. Where possible, we have integrated and embedded activities that have a clear curricular focus into year-level programmes. Primary ECAs are optional yet we encourage students to take up activities in order to develop social skills and have some fun.
Time and Date
ECAs are run by teachers and Secondary students (supervised by Secondary teachers) on weekdays (except school and public holidays). We have three seasons of activities every academic year and registration is done through Gateway. Activities can take place during lunch and after school. Students and parents/guardians should check availability before registering.
Registration
All activities are listed on Gateway prior to their registration dates. Parents/guardians are encouraged to check activity information and have discussions with their children in order to choose suitable activities.
External Providers
External providers also offer after-school programmes. These providers use our school facilities and parents/guardians have the option of enrolling their children in these programmes. For these activities, there is normally a cost involved, payable to the provider.
Further notes about ECAs:
After applying for an ECA on Gateway, the leader of the ECA will contact you/your child to let them know they have been successful. If you have not heard from them, your child will be placed on a waiting list and subsequently contacted if space is available in the ECA.
For external provider ECAs, payment is sometimes required and is expected upon enrollment.
Please note that Primary students must be picked up and supervised by an adult/Secondary sibling between 3:10 pm and the start of their ECA. The school cannot provide supervision of your child after 3:10 pm. Further, you must make your own arrangements to help your child get home at the end of the ECA as there are no school buses available at that time.
For questions relating to Primary ECAs, please contact Ms. Beatrice So at soy8@rchk.edu.hk.
The Secondary Co-curricular programme provides our older students with a wide range of activities outside school hours. Activities take place in 10-week blocks and range from the Maths Mentor Club to Rowing and Trashion.
