ESF Art Competition
RCHK Refugee Action Team is holding an ESF Art Competition a theme of which was inspired by the humanitarian crisis many countries are currently facing and the experience of individuals, regardless of age or gender who are forced to leave their countries. All secondary students will have the opportunity to use visual arts as a means to communicate an important message related to the ongoing refugee crisis.

Visual communication is one of the most powerful forms of delivery, and the Refugee Action Team hope to raise awareness about the struggles of refugees in commemoration of World Refugee Day (June 20) by doing exactly this. It is now more important than ever to advocate for refugees as they are one of the groups of people that are most heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Art pieces willl later be auctioned and the proceeds will be going towards a Hong Kong-based refugee charity.
What
An original artwork related to the global refugee crisis where you may use any 2D media (Watercolour, colour pencil, oil, acrylic, gouache, digital painting, charcoal etc.)
How
Submit a high resolution image of the artwork in jpg/peg format (at least 300dpi) to rat@rchk.edu.hk
When
Final piece submitted by Tuesday, 1 June 2021. Winners will be announced on World Refugee Day (20 June 2021)
Where
Art exhibition will be held at RCHK. A virtual exhibition will also be organised.
Prizes
– ESF issued certificates for first, second and third place winners.
– All participants will be credited for a Service Major (IBMYP) or CAS Creativity (IBDP).
Disclaimer: As you may not know first hand what it’s like to be a refugee, please be mindful when creating your artwork. Make sure you have prior knowledge and focus on how the refugee crisis makes you feel. Example: Artwork portraying the beauty and strength of refugees, unity, etc.
