Sporting Provision Guidelines at RCHK

In recognition of supporting the sporting interests that exist beyond the wide and varied scope of the Renaissance College Black Kites programme, the following guidelines have been developed to accommodate such interests in a helpful and strategic manner.

RCHK will accommodate the sporting interests of individual sporting competitions and events that fall outside the Black Kites Programme under the provision of:

i) Parental support and supervision are required at all times and in all cases.

ii) The involvement of any child in sporting competitions/activities beyond that of the Black Kites programme is deemed to be a sole parental/guardian responsibility.

iii) Parents/guardians must adhere to all guidelines and the administrative proposal set out by RCHK in support of external sporting provisions. Failure to do so will result in your child not being entered into the respective competition.

iv) In competitions where there is a limit to participation and intent to perform is higher than places, a random ballot will be used to determine those students who are selected.

v) All documentation is to be presented to the Physical Health and Education (PHE) department in a timely fashion and communicated in English as and when possible.

vi) Please note – Completion of the annual single registration period is NOT a guarantee that your child will automatically be registered for a specific competition.

RCHK will not accommodate any non-Black Kites team-based events whereby the supervision of a teacher/coach (whether it be an employed RCHK staff member, parent or guardian) is required in the representation of RCHK.

The process by which external sporting provision will be governed and supported by RCHK is noted below. Please be aware of the single registration period. Failure to adhere to this timeline will result in your application not being processed.

RCHK provides a large array of sporting opportunities for its students as part of the Black Kites in support of providing a holistic approach to education.

New Approach to Sports Offerings

This year, we are implementing a new approach to how we offer and organise various sporting activities that exist beyond the normal scope of the Black Kites programme. For sports that are specifically part of our Black Kites programme, we will continue to provide the structure, coaching, and organisation as we have in the past. For sports that are not currently offered through the Black Kites programme, we recognise that many students and families may have an interest in pursuing sporting interests that exist beyond the scope that RCHK provides. To ensure we can support and accommodate these additional sports, we will be adopting an annual single registration deadline to assist with internal organisation, logistics and demand.

Stage 1 – Annual Single Registration Deadline

To enable RCHK to sufficiently and fairly organise these supplementary sports interests, there’s an annual single registration deadline – Monday, 16 September. By this date, we ask that all parents and students register their interest in participating in a particular sport or competition with the Physical Health and Education (PHE) department using the following Annual Single Registration Document with the required details to ensure we can process all administrative documentation. Please be reminded that the registration will be for individual events only, not team activities or combined events. The involvement of any child in sporting competitions/activities beyond that provided by the Black Kites programme is deemed to be a sole parental/guardian responsibility.

Stage 2 – Submission of competition registration forms and documents

It is the responsibility of the student (parent/guardian) to submit competition registration forms and any required documents to the 3rd floor PHE Office (in person) two weeks before the competition deadline for processing. Any applications made to the Primary or Secondary office, via email or any other means will not be acknowledged. In competitions where there is a limit to participation and intent to perform is higher than places, a random ballot will be used to determine those students who are selected.

Supervision Expectations Form

Along with the registration, parents/guardians will also be asked to acknowledge a ‘Supervision Expectations Form’. This form will help ensure student representation and participation in these supplementary sports align with the core values of RCHK and the Black Kites programme.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this new approach. Our goal is to provide the best possible sports experiences for all of our students while maintaining the integrity of the Black Kites programme. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the PHE department via pheadmin@rchk.edu.hk.

We look forward to an exciting and enriching sports season ahead!
